IEC stands for Import Export Code. It is a registration required for people importing or exporting goods in/from India. It is a 10 digit number code issued by Director General of Foreign Trade, Department of Commerce, Government of India.
Any person/company partaking in international trade is required to be registered and possess an IEC code. Import Export Code (IEC) is required by individuals or persons or companies who partake in international trade, i.e. import of goods or export of goods. The documents required for IEC registration are as follows: Address Proof, Banker Certificate / Cancelled Cheque, Self-certified copy of PAN card. Pan card is mandatory for IEC registration. IEC registration will not be completed without the PAN card.
